News:
Lufthansa are adding video on demand
for all classes. Its called "Media
World". Films can be started at
any time, interrupted, advanced or
rewound. Lufthansa are also offering
audio-on-demand, which means you can
build up tailored CDs. Business class
will get a new screen, at 10.4 inches
for the business overhead screen in a
747-400.
Films are listed in the back of the
magazine. It starts with pages of film
reviews. Then there are the listings
from and to Germany.
Miles and
More Frequent Flyer (Basic):
Once you have flown 3,000 miles, you
will receive a regular Lufthansa Miles
and More Card.
Lufthansa are upgrading their lounge
design. Having revamped the Munich
lounges with the new Senator Lounge
Design, one more lounge is to follow
at Frankfurt Airport. The Senator
Lounge in Frankfurt in Departure Area
A Schengen will have added quiet rooms,
armchair landscapes and bistro zones.
The conversion and enlargement work in
Frankfurt will continue until next
year. Lufthansa are also introducing a
new type of First Class lounge at
Frankfurt, with a specialised smoking
room and you will be driven by car to
the gate.
In some German airports, such as at
Cologne/Bonn, the airport follows the
American model, and the lounges are
before security. It pays to check
before going through to the gate, as
you won't be let back again.
Senator
Lounge: First class ticket
holders and Star Gold Card holders get
access to the Senator Lounge. This is
by far the best lounge to go for. Food
can be good, and there is a better
selection of wine.
The Business
Lounge is for business
class (plus Star Gold Card holders).
The food is normally just nibbles.
Lufthansa
Drinks: Wine, beer and
spirits are free. All wines in economy.
Occasionally on some short (and
domestic) Lufthansa Cityline flights,
in economy, there is only beer and
sparkling wine on the trolley.
